Frequently asked questions

Do I need to assemble my Jetlamp, and is it difficult?

Some assembly is required for your Jetlamp, but it’s simple and tool-free. You just screw the pole onto the base, attach the heater to the pole, slide in the glass tube, and place the heat reflector over the top. The entire process takes only a couple of minutes.

Can I place my Jetlamp on a wood or composite deck?

Absolutely, Patiofyre units are designed to be safe for use on wood and composite decks. The heating element starts 12” off the ground. However, always ensure proper ventilation and follow safety guidelines.

Can I use the Jetlamp under a covered patio?

Yes, we regularly operate our Jetlamps under an 8’ covered patio. It will not stain the roof.

How do I start my Jetlamp?

To start the Jetlamp, first ensure the pellet cartridge is fully inserted into the burn chamber. Next, fill the pellet hopper with wood pellets, and ignite them using the included propane torch. Place the head of the propane torch through the burn chamber opening to ignite. It takes approximately one minute to ignite.

Will my Jetlamp produce smoke?

When you first startup your Jetlamp, a small amount of smoke may appear, but once the pellets are fully ignited, the flame will burn cleanly and smoke-free. Refilling the pellet hopper will maintain a steady, smokeless fire.

Can I burn anything other than wood pellets in my Jetlamp?

Do not burn anything other than wood pellets in your Jetlamp. Burning anything else could be dangerous and could cause injury to those near the heater and damage to the Jetlamp.

How long does a single load of pellets burn in my Jetlamp?

A full hopper provides approximately one hour of burn time. The fire will continue indefinitely if the hopper is refilled. An optional extension hopper doubles the unattended burn time to two hours.

Does the Jetlamp need to be plugged in to operate?

The Jetlamp runs entirely on gravity-fed wood pellets, so it requires no electricity to operate.

Can I turn off the Jetlamp mid-burn?

While it’s best to let the fire burn completely in your Jetlamp for easier cleanup and restart, you can stop it mid-burn if needed. Use a tool or heat-resistant gloves to remove the pellet cartridge from the burn chamber. The remaining pellets in the hopper will smother the fire. Be sure to place a steel bucket or other safe container under the heater if it’s on a combustible surface, as some hot pellets may fall out. Keep in mind that this will result in some smoke and the need to clean out the heater before the next use.

How hot does the Jetlamp get?

The Jetlamp produces a significant amount of heat (up to 15 feet of radiant heat). The metal around the burn chamber and the glass tube can get very hot. Additional safety cages are offered if you are concerned with the proximity to hot surfaces.

What is the thermal output of the Jetlamp in BTUs?

Depending on the wood pellet variety, the Metro Jetlamp can produce up to 55,000 BTUs of heat. Unlike most outdoor heaters, the Jetlamp’s design creates efficient, full-body warmth rather than simply measuring fuel potential. (BTU’s is an imperfect measure of most outdoor heaters, as most BTU measurements don’t take into account the efficiency of the heater, only the BTU potential of the fuel being burned, and assume a 100% efficiency for turning that fuel into heat...which isn’t usually the case.)

What happens if the Jetlamp gets knocked over?

The base of the Jetlamp is made of solid steel and is heavy, so the likelihood of tipping over under proper usage is very small. If it does fall and the glass breaks, the fire will go out because the visible flame is secondary combustion from the pellet fire below. This is why the heater can have such a substantial looking flame and, at the same time, be smokeless.Replacement glass tubes are available if needed.

Can I leave my Jetlamp outdoors?

Yes, you can leave your Jetlamp outside. The Jetlamp is coated with a premium powder finish to protect it from the elements and prevent the typical discoloration seen in other metal heaters.

Is the glass tube difficult to clean?

Some soot will naturally accumulate on the glass tube and heat reflector due to the wood pellet fire. A dedicated glass tube cleaning kit is available to make this process fast and easy, although cleaning is optional.

Is it expensive to operate a Jetlamp?

The Jetlamp is highly efficient, using approximately six pounds of pellets per hour. This makes it more than twice as cost-effective as propane heaters while providing denser heat, resulting in lower fuel costs and better long-term savings.

Is it difficult to maintain a steady flame in the Jetlamp?

Nope, it’s easy to maintain a steady flame in your Jetlamp! The Jetlamp has been meticulously engineered to maintain a consistent fire with minimal user input once ignited. Its reliable performance is a core feature of the design.

How much does a Jetlamp weigh?

The base Metro Jetlamp model weighs 65 pounds, and with a full safety cage installed, it weighs 99 pounds.

How long will my Jetlamp last?

Our Jetlamps have a limited lifetime warranty, and are designed to last. We intentionally designed them to incorporate replaceable wear parts, allowing you to maintain your heater for years of continued use.
